LJ piece of the month!

Lara Sports Bra

Hey there loyal readers! I hope you had an amazing weekend full of laughs, joy, and sweat. This week was put into perspective in the Tone it Up community and it made me appreciate my friends and family more than ever. On Friday, the Grit fam and some of my #tiusisters, came together for a happy hour. We enjoyed a few drinks at The Rustic and caught up on life. I am so thankful for this community in Dallas, because it is to welcoming. If you come to the studio, be sure to introduce yourself!

Today I’m starting a new blog series dedicated to my favorite Lorna Jane active living gear! I will take you through my collection of LJ pieces for fitness and leisure. I am one of those girls that only purchases work clothes every couple of years. I would rather spend my money on fitness and leisure clothing. As crazy as it sounds, I just need that extra motivation to feel my best while I’m working out. When you have a fun outfit to put on, you are much more likely to push harder in your workout, feel good doing it, and enjoy yourself! Lorna Jane can be found at TJ Maxx, but I shop at my local store in the West Village. I love supporting my local boutiques when I can. Their staff is so friendly, and they have many fun and free events at their Active Living Room. Go check it out.

This month’s piece is the Lara Sports Bra. As soon as this item came out, I had my eye on it-that mesh!!! I can’t get enough of mesh. Dallas is a hot city, I need everything to breath! As a fitness instructor, I am part of the Active Ellite group of women that Lorna Jane gives a nice discount to. To sign up, bring your certification into any store and they will sign you up! (This goes for most athletic apparel stores, just ask =) I love how versatile this crop top is, you can throw a vest over it and wear it out to brunch or a girls day after your workout. The back is killer! Show off those muscles girls. My favorite aspect of LJ clothing is they really flatter women! The fabrics are incredibly durable and soft, and they have removable padding for girls who tend to want a more feminine looking top. I wear this top to our signature Powerbelle class at Dallas Grit Fitness. It lets me move, sweat, and turn every which way for a total body workout. As always, be sure to wash your LJ items separate and hang dry only. They will last much longer. Enjoy!

Weekend Warriors! Hosting your BFF in Dallas

Happy Monday my amazing FitGirlfriends! Life is better when we share it right? Well, I am still coming off of such a wonderful weekend spend with one of my best childhood friends, and my fiance, and future family here in the Big D! You might be wondering what a typical weekend looks like for me, and as much as I would like to say that I always get out to explore Dallas, I’m guilty of being a bit of a workaholic. Instead of staying in, we went out to enjoy the gorgeous weather!

Carleigh and I have been what I like to call best ‘FitGirlfriends’ since we were young….playing sports, training for triathlons. Her love for soccer and track helped me continuously push my limits through hot summer nights, literally spent doing her D1 soccer workouts at the track until 9pm. While I loved to work on the body’s form and was literally obsessed with making her do my grueling ab workouts, we made an awesome pair. Friday we started our day off, working out in my living room and sweat through Insanity Max 30 (sweat intervals month 2)  for 30 minutes of craziness! After re-charging with my favorite chocolate nutrition shake, shakeology, we headed out to the West Village to do some shopping. We ended up finding the cutest spring finds at Flirt Boutique-check them out! Also stop into Paciugo for some dairy-free (and very tasty) gelato options.

Friday night my fiance and I went on a date to the Deep Ellum Arts Festival and found the coolest pieces of art from vendors all over Texas. The weather was perfect to stop for a margarita, and enjoy some people watching! After that we went to Elle’s Southern Kitchen in the West End of downtown for some #BFD. Breakfast for dinner is just something fun once and a while, the pancakes there are a must try!

Saturday, as if we weren’t already sore enough, Carleigh and were privileged enough to take not one but TWO heart-pumping, fierce, and fun sweat sessions at Dallas Grit Fitness! We took Flexin’ Flow by Brit at 10 and Turbo Kick at 11 with Anabelle! If you have been looking for a new type of experience in your fitness life-Grit is a one of a kind community. We burned over 1,000 calories between the two! I know these classes were new to both my friend AND my fiance (bless his heart for joining us!) but they were challenging and fun in a great way-something to be proud of!

Turbo Kick is sort of my soulmate workout. I couldn’t really imagine my life without it! Think amazing hip hop, fresh new pop hits, and some crazy kick-boxing choreography. Turbo Kick is one of those classes that you will want to take at least 3-5 times before throwing in the towel! It’s meant to confuse your body, and as long as you keep moving, have fun, and do NOT take yourself too seriously, you will get a great workout and have fun! I stayed after our class for Instructor orientation, and am currently working towards becoming a part of the Grit Instructor Dream Team! Wish me luck, I hope to see y’all there in the future for ANY class. We have so much fun! Enjoy your first week of unlimited classes for just $10!

After heading to Watermark-my family’s church-home in Dallas and enjoying the Easter Service on Saturday afternoon, Carleigh and I had our own girls ‘date night’ in the West Village at Eureka! If you haven’t tried this place yet, go tonight! It’s amazing. Such a fun farm to table concept, with open air seating onto their patio, and a menu that will (literally) rock you!  We enjoyed a bottle of Pinot Grigio chilled in this marble wine cooler-which I absolutely loved. After deciding between burgers and salad, we decided to do a little bit of both! You can order any burger ‘naked’ on a bed of fresh arugala which was lovely (highly recommend the Fig burger and the Havarti burger) and my favorite part of the meal was our Beet salad-complete with oranges, fennel, goat cheese, walnuts, watermelon, and POPRocks! Highlight of our night. Check them out and don’t be afraid to have their amazing french fries as well! The portion sizes are great and the flavors are memorable!

My Fabletics Pics for March!

Hey there, Happy thirsty Thursday! Are you drinking that water?!

I can’t believe I haven’t been sharing these outfits with you every single month?! Why have I been keeping this a secret? I’m VERY picky about my workout clothes. There, I said it! The traditional tights from Target’s Champion line, simply don’t fit me well. I am not a huge fan of the fabrics, and they fall down on me and fade quickly. I really admire designers that can add value to their clothes for such an affordable price!

An entire Outfit for $50-70? You won’t find this quality at that price for 3 pieces.

And your first outfit for $25? You had me at Yoga Pants ❤

You can sign up to be a VIP member (I skip my month sometimes) and you keep your membership pricing but spend $0 you don’t have to get your outfit every single month and I love that! But if workout clothes are your thing, you probably buy new ones each month anyway am I right?

Here I paired the Valhalah Tee (Size S) with the Sydney Capri (size S) and show off whichever sports bra you’re feeling that day! I’m wearing a Lorna Jane crop top here and paired with my Nike Dunks and I’m ready for Hip Hop tonight!

You have the option to choose whatever pieces you like, (my favorites are the tights and the Ts!) and mix and match the personal recommendations that they put together JUST for you!

Sign up from my link here =)

And for every friend you refer, you $10 in credit, tell your friends tell your enemies!

I promise you have never worn tights as soft and flattering as these. Thank you Kate Hudson for this Fab-ulous line 😉 I can’t wait to bring these to some of my favorite Dallas girls! I want to outfit my bridesmaids for a workout weekend, what do you think?!

Rocksbox your life!

Hey Fabulous Friends!

Tuesday calls for some bling right? Well I am so excited to be sharing with you, your newest best friends…..thats right, Jewels and Studs.

A few months ago, I was approached by another Tone it Up girl, Alex, who told me about Rocksbox….she said I just HAD to share it with you girls and my fitness community. Let’s be honest, #fitchicks need sparkle to go with their sweat! Be on the lookout next week for a fabulous and fun shoot I’ll be doing with my fiancé on my newest pieces!

New Video! My favorite spots in the West Village, Uptown Dallas

IMG_7402

Hello there! I can’t believe it’s almost Holiday Season can you?! Holidays are not only one of the busiest times, but they can also become quiet and slow down for some of us! When I used to live in Rochester, NY, you were sort of forced to take a day (because of all the snow) and enjoy the slow-down! This time of year, I can finally take a step back and say ‘ahhhhh…clarity’.  I set goals BEFORE January 1st, so I’m not shell-shocked when it rolls around and I can’t figure out where to start! It may seem like I’m a regimented gal, but try as I may, life just ebs and flows too much for me to live every week the same! But some things may never change…like my favorite hang-outs! I’m looking forward to spending some time at my favorite café Sip N Stir, featured in this Vlog! I come here a lot to blog, which is one of the things I enjoy doing the most. I wanted to take y’all around my part of town because many of you don’t know much about Dallas. So if you ever come for a visit, there’s more than enough to do. I haven’t even made a dent! I’m definitely going to continue this trend, as there are new stores opening up, and restaurants to try….and you can expect more wedding planning updates too! Hope you enjoy getting to know me a bit better, and some of the things I like to do in the West Village.

Who’s shopping for New Years Eve?! A lot of you are always asking me where I get my crop tops and outfits! Well I wanted to share my favorite/and affordable little store here called Pitaya. Their branded clothes are made in the USA! There are several around the country but you can shop online-check out their fleece leggings for $8! I LOVE them. They have such a unique story and I really enjoy giving local business owners my money. There’s a story behind everyone’s journey and it allows me to get to know entrepreneurs like myself!  The owner started traveling around the country years ago, and then to South America finding new clothing ideas and textiles. After their first store opened in Indiana 20 years ago, they opened up 12 stores around the country and now have a boutique shop in the West Village of Dallas. Pretty great success story, and we have so much fun playing dress-up every time I go in! What can I say, trying clothes on is more fun now that I feel confident in my own skin! Pop into the shop to see some of these looks I tried on! I really enjoy their trends and unique pieces! Of course, I had to get that hat.

Another one of my favorite spots to go, is the Katy Trail…these stairs are quite hidden in the woods and they are really long! I love running up and down them to get some variety into my workouts. Last weekend was FREEZING for Dallas, I promise =)

And if you’re in the mood for a brew after your run, hit up the Katy Trail Ice House! They have a dozen fire pits in the backyard going in the fall/winter to warm up at and chill out by!

Hope you enjoy seeing my favorite things to do on a typical week, and the fact that Lorna Jane is coming, will definitely warrant another fun photo shoot when it opens! A HUGE thank you to my wonderful Fiancé Hunter, who shot and edited this video for me, and puts up with my new ideas for photshoots on a ‘whenever we see each other’ basis. I couldn’t have nearly as much fun without you. Love you babe!

xoxo
